The Camano ridge forest preserve is 400 acre preserve that is great for day hiking.  This was once a Department of Natural Resources working forest and is one of the largest intact forests on Camano Island. The DNR transfer of this 400 acre forest for public use is important for aquifer recharge an wildlife habitat.   This forest is surrounded by alder and scrub brush with various cleared out areas.  The hike has small altitude gains which make it great for family day hikes.  There are 2 access points for this trail system . The first access point is located just off 37 N Camano Ridge road which has limited parking on the side of the road.  The pictures below are from the Camano ridge trail head.  A sign located on a tree directs you to the trail head after hiking up a driveway. The second access point is on the right side off Canku road just past a house on the right with an extensive chain link fence.
